Stuck in"spooling" status

I have a windows 95 machine printing to a HP LaserJet 4000 TN.
I have a user using Peoplesoft. When the user tries to print a report, the job hangs in the que with the "spooling" status and doesn't go beyond that.
LPT1 is the captured port and the user can print other things. What does it mean when it stays in the "spooling" mode.

I have seen this message on a huge network for which I was a local administrator and no one every solved this to my satisfaction up the line. In cases where this has occurred on the network we stopped the TCP/IP spooler service, waited about one minute and restarted it. It cleared the job. If that didn't work we also stopped the print server service. Usually doing the first option cleared it. Because the users were spread out over 10 floors, I never found out if they were ever able to print it. We were set up PCL only. Kathy might be able to answer this. Can you add a printer for postscript that points to the same LPR port as a PCL printer and not have them conflict ?

Hi Jason,
From reading your message, I'm guessing your user is on a network. Is there a way of bypassing the network and connecting directly to the LPT1 port? Are they able to print other PeopleSoft reports, or is this a problem with all reports?
Kathy
