Ricoh 3500N - Photoconductor Problems

Post time: 2012-11-4 08:15:27 |Show all posts
I have several 3500's that continue to give SC441 errors. I call for service and the tech says change the color photoconductor. I just changed it a month ago. It has approximately 100 copies on it. I run into this problem with the CL2000 model as well. Are these just poorly designed printers? My users are very upset with the supply cost. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the SC441 and the power off/on message?

Unfortunately, this seems to be an inherent problem with the CL3500n. The toner waste tube on the PCU is plugging up with rock hard toner. You can free it up. You have to open the swivel door on the end of the waste toner tube, tape it open, then hold that end down to the ground and tap gently but firmly. The worm auger is plugged and the motor can't turn the auger. So yep, shows a 411 code. You can sometimes see which one is plugged, as there will be toner on the roller. Be careful not to hit the roller, as they damage easily. Be patient and when you see tiner start coming out more freely, you should be back in business. It unfortunately is a design problem. How many copies do you have total?

I thought the SC441 error was a "Drum Peripheral Component Motor Lock", have you tried cleaning in and around the drum. Maybe the motor is going bad or there's some kind of obstruction.
