Hello, I am Engineer John Cappucci, welcome to yahoo and thank you for asking your question.|
Please remember I do not receive a salary from this company. I am an independent Computer Science Engineer with more than 10 years of experience working with Printers, and now working here. The only way for me to be compensated for my time is when the customer (You) click the Accept button when satisfied. Thank you for your help and understanding.
If you get the 5800 error message then that's a "normal" issue on Canon printers. When the ink absorber is full it needs to be replaced.
Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure, then this should be done from a technician, that also includes the disassemble of the printer that requires special equipment from Canon.
You should call Canon directly at 1-800-OK-CANON and make an appointment to have the ink pads replaced. They should charge only $10.
Even if you reset the counter, the printer will get defective if you don't replace the absorbers soon.
If Canon charges you too much for the job, then you may prefer a new printer for a similar/better price than a repair. Amazon has very good prices usually with free shipping and no tax. Click here for more info ---> http://tinyurl.com/PrintersAmazon
Please note I do NOT work for CANON so please do NOT leave me a negative feedback if you are not satisfied with them. Thank you
