I have a Canon ip1800 printer that keeps flashing orange 7X. I only print in black and I have replaced the cartridge with a brand new canon 30 that I just bought and it still won't work. It's been going on for 2 days and I'm about ready to smash the $#^t out of it.
Optional Information:
Make: Canon
Model: ip1800
Already Tried:
unplugging/disconnectingremoved, reinstalled cartridgesbought, installed NEW cartridge

Yes, I am worried about my rating, because I have to do hard work to earn these rating and I am also worried about your problem, I am trying to tell you, that this is a hardware fault and it is the print head, which is defective, because the print head connect the cartridges with the printer and if it is defective, then the printer cannot detect the cartridges. I do not understand, instead of this answer, why are you saying, that I am not answering your question. I cannot tell you anything, except the true facts or what you want to hear.
If my answer is wrong, that you have to confirm from any local shop, as I cannot check your printer physically, then you can get refund of your amount, so there is nothing to worry about the money.PrintingEx41122.9075231829

It seems as if you're more worried about your rating than if my problem is solved. It's MY money that pays for your time and effort and you have NOT  answered my question or solved my problem. I'm not convinced it's a hardware problem, which is why I contacted this site anyway.

Please try to understand, the part I am referring is the medium between the cartridges and the printer, because the print head is the part, in which the cartridges are installed and if the print head is defective the printer cannot detect the cartridges, there is no reason for me to give you false information, this can be the first case for you, but we deal with this everyday and it is the print head. This is not that much money to replace. You can do it. So your choice is to replace the print head or look for another printer. However, you can just replace the head. I know, this is very frustrating, but this is the truth. If you want to try something else, before replacing the print head, then follow the steps, that I have provided,if you have not done so. I will request, not to rate my answer, if you do not like it, but I hope you will understand, what I am trying to tell and give me a positive rating.
If you would like any additional information or have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

Please remember to only rate my answer when you think, it is at least "OK Service" or I have provided a Good or Excellent service.Reply to me via the REPLY TO EXPERT or CONTINUE CONVERSATION button with the issue you have. I will be happy to continue further and do everything I can to provide you with the service you seek.
Please remember, if you rate me less than 3 Star/Smiley (OK Service) , then I will not get paid for my time and effort and it is consider as negative rating. So,I request you to think before you rate my response and one more thing, if it is a hardware fault, then it is not possible for me to replace the spare through online, I can only tell you, what to do to solve the problem, because I cannot give you any wrong information, except the true facts. I hope you will understand.

You're suggesting to replace a part that will improve print quality. My problem is that the printer doesn't recognize that the cartridges are installed properly. How is your suggestion helpful? Just because you are nice about it doesn't mean it's satisfactory. My rating is for whether or not your answer is helpful, not you as a person.

Why did you give me a negative rating? it is not possible for anyone to replace a defective spare through internet. I requested you to reply me back instead of giving negative rating and instead of that, you have given me a negative rating, where as I am not responsible for the fault.

Relist: Inaccurate answer.
I need to know how to get my printer to recognize that the cartridges are installed properly so that I can start printing again.

I just asked that for confirmation, I do not know, you will like my honest answer or not, but I will request you to not give me negative rating for my honest answer, because it seems the contacts on the print head are damaged and you have to replace the print head to resolve the issue, but before that you can follow the steps below to clean the copper contacts on them with a cotton swab dampened in distilled water until they are clean, after drying them reseat the cartridges and check the issue. If the problem persist, then replace the print head to resolve the issue. Please do not get angry, because replacing the print head and printer are not same, as you can replace the print head from any repair shop and use this same printer without any problem. These are very common problem with canon printers and can be solved, just by replacing the print head.
1.Remove all the cartridges.
3.Clean the copper contacts on the print head with a cotton swab dampened in distilled water.
4. Reseat the cartridges

They move to the replacement position without fail but, a couple of times, they didn't move after closing the cover. Like I said, I've been going through this for two days. I've opened it, taken the cartridges in and out, unplugged it, tried to troubleshoot from the user's guide, everything that I can think of.

When you open the printer cover, does the cartridges move to the replacement position or seems to be jammed.
